| OK here we go with the Splitfire PVC mod. This mod makes your
gun have a better barrel and a more airtight seal with the dart,
producing more range and accuracy. This mod assumes you have
already completed the part of the original Splitfire mod where
you seal the air release valve. Head over to the original mod if
you haven't. Sealing the holes in the barrels is of no use if
you are going to do this mod because we'll be cutting them off
:).

Open the gun. Take the barrel assembly out. This is where you
want to cut the barrels off. Right before they get big again.

Here's a pic after cutting. The barrels are cut right before
they get big. The back of the gun is to the left and the top is
facing toward you. Try to cut as close to perpendicular as you
can, but I wasn't able to, even with a miter box.

Now cut your barrels out of 1/2" sched 40 PVC pipe. Mine
were a little under 4". You don't want them too long, as
you don't want to make the gun a whole lot longer. But you want
them to stick out the front for loading. Make sure your barrels
are the same length or it will look stupid :).

Seat the barrel assembly in the gun casing. First you will want
to sand or cut down the rib near the front of the gun so that
the PVC barrels will fit in and exit the gun. Make the fit cozy
but not too tight. Do both halves of the casing. Then seat the
barrel assembly in the casing and get your glue gun ready.

Put the barrel on without glue first. You will have some
imperfections in your cutting, no matter how well you did it.
Rotate the barrel to see what works best. You want it to be as
straight as possible. When you're ready, put glue on the end of
the barrel and press it in to place on the gun's barrel.

One barrel down...

Now the second one. Make sure the second one touches the first
one at the point where they exit the gun. The barrels should be
touching almost the whole way after the front of the barrels.
Press them in place, then put the second half of the casing on
while the glue is drying, to make sure the barrels will fit in
the casing.

Here I've put the casing on. Don't put in the screws; we're not
done yet.

After the glue dries for a few minutes, open the gun again. Glue
the two PVC barrels together for added strength. Reinforce the
original joint with more glue. This joint HAS to be airtight. If
there is a hole, your range will suffer. Try to get glue all
around the joint.

Finished! Make sure you put the pump in--I didn't and believe me
it's a pain unscrewing all those screws to put the pump in, and
you feel really stupid :). Prepare to be amazed. This gun is
almost as good as the LnL. Only downside is it needs 10 pumps or
so. Range is good and there are two shots. I like this gun as a
sidearm inside, and it's the best sidearm overall currently available.
If you don't have one, go buy one for $12 or so. Try it; you
might like it.
