My name is Joe Near. As of May 2001, I'm 16 years old and I'm a
sophomore in high school in southern Indiana. I have been
playing Nerf since I was about 8 years of age, when I acquired
my bow 'n arrow. Eve since then, I've been devoting a large part
of my time and money to Nerf. I discovered the Nerf web sites a
couple years ago, and I've been relatively active on those sites
since then.
I realized that it was really hard for someone with no
modding experience to get into Nerf. They would be scared of
breaking their guns and angering their parents. I was the same
way. Luckily, I have a dad who is supportive of everything I've
done. He helped me do things to my guns that I could never have
figured out by myself. After about a year of doing things this
way, I decided that the least I could do was to help others with
their problems. I had a nice digital camera (something that
seemed to be generally lacking in the Nerf community), so I
started a website. This site began with a few pictures of my
super soaker conversion and my 1500 mod. Since then, I've
expanded the mods section with more of my mods and mods sent in
by fellow Nerfers.
In the future, I want to expand this site to cover wars, and
especially to include videos. I will be working towards that
goal, as well as documenting my ongoing work in modding Nerf's
